Wow. So CBS answer to Ghost Whisperer’s ratings is to kill off Melinda’s hubby Jim, played by David Conrad, and make her a widow. Um, what?

Although CBS declined to comment, multiple sources confirm what has been buzzing on the Internet for weeks (final final warning): Melinda is about to become a widow, as producers have decided to kill off TV hubby Jim (David Conrad) early in season 4.

So how many people are going to stop watching if Jim kicks the bucket? I bet quite a few.

Jay Mohr becomes series regular on Ghost Whisperer

Monday, September 17th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

We will be seeing much more of Professor Payne on the new season of Ghost Whisperer as he becomes a series regular on the “I see dead people show” Ghost Whisperer. Jay Mohr, who joined the cast back in 2006, was featured in many of season two’s episodes, but I think he has just bumped that up to all of season’s three’s episodes, or nearly all of them!

Ghost Whisperer launches special web episodes

CBS is launching a new series within a series with new Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side “episodes” which are being aired exclusively at CBS.com, although one of the characters will be featured in a crossover in an actual episode - the season finale - being aired on CBS. The web episodes are seen a a companion series to Ghost Whisperer, and will feature the world through the eyes of a ghost.

The first episodes are now available online.

Every Friday, fans can watch a new episode of GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE, a unique web series that shows the spirit world from the perspective of an earthbound spirit, Zach, who searches for answers regarding his recent death. As Zach learns to navigate around the spirit world, he meets an array of ghosts who teach him how to intersect with the land of the living. The character of Zach will make a special appearance on the second season finale of GHOST WHISPERER.

GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE features Zach (Mark Hapka), the young earthbound spirit seeking answers regarding his death; Danny (Matthew Alan), a friend of Zach’s who Zach holds responsible for his death; Sarah (Robin Hines), Zach’s temptress and teacher in the spirit world; Sam (rapper DNA), a spirit who entertains and enlightens Zach; The Shadow Spirit (Graham McTavish, “Rome” and the upcoming “Rambo IV”), a ghost from the Dark side; and fashion model Taylor as Katie, Zach’s girlfriend. The web series is directed by Claudio Faeh (”Coronado,” “Hollow Man 2″).

It is an interesting way to market to online users (although the official sponsor is Saturn) and could also prompt new users to try out their television on demand on CBS. However, it remains to be seen if it catches on!

Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan to guest star on Ghost Whisperer

Ghost Whisperer meet Dog Whisperer. According to a CBS press release, the Dog Whisperer himself will be making a guest appearance, playing himself of course, on an upcoming episode of Ghost Whisperer.

World-renowned Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan guests stars as himself on an upcoming episode of GHOST WHISPERER, to be broadcast Friday, March 30 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

When Homer the Ghost Dog returns to Grandview, he walks back into Melinda’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) life by spooking Delia’s (Camryn Manheim) normally calm golden retriever, Bob. Worried about Bob’s recent change in behavior, Delia visits a local Grandview book signing with Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan. Melinda joins Delia at the signing to see if Cesar can offer guidance on how to cross Homer into the light.

Cesar Millan, born in rural Mexico, first came to the United States intent on becoming the world’s best dog trainer. Since then, Millan has successfully spread his message by way of his hit television series, “Dog Whisperer” on the National Geographic Channel, # 1 New York Times best-selling book “Cesar’s Way,” and instructional DVDs.

With the somewhat negative publicity the Dog Whisperer has been receiving lately (although always glowing reports from his celeb clients) one has to wonder if he pulled some strings to get this acting spot.

CBS & Ghost Whisperer to host online seance… weird or what?

Monday, February 12th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Okay, doesn’t this sound more than a little weird to you? Because it sure does to me… does a real life online seance belong on CBS.com? Apparently they think so since they have brought in renowned medium James Van Praagh to host a streaming seance online for fans… and on Valentine’s Day no less… is this so they can allow fans to contact dead loved ones?

Reconnect with your loved ones this Valentine’s Day with a live CBS.com “Ghost Whisperer Sance” hosted by renowned medium James Van Praagh, on Wednesday, February 14 at 3:00 PM, ET/12:00 PM, PT. Van Praagh, who is a co-executive producer of the hit CBS television drama GHOST WHISPERER, will conduct a one-hour live sance where he will perform readings for the general public via streaming video on CBS.com.

The public will be able to call Van Praagh at 323-CBS-1000 and speak to him personally as he connects with the dead, while others can simultaneously converse in a designated chat room.

I don’t think I have seen a weirder press release since starting SpoilerBuzz! What do you think?

Mary J. Blige on Ghost Whisperer as a cheerleader coach with a ghost problem

Friday, January 12th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

maryjblige.jpg

Mary J. Blige is set to guest star on Ghost Whisperer during an episode that not only airs during February sweeps but also coincides with Grammy week. The episode, “Mean Ghost” is set to air February 9th.

Melinda finds herself dealing with a group of cheerleaders who have had some bad things happening to them. Melinda discovers that cheerleader can’t cross over and someone has been casting spells on the squad.

Mary J Blige is guest starring as the squad’s cheerleading coach.

Ghost Whisperer hasn’t nabbed too many higher profile guest stars thus far, so it will be interesting to see how they handle Blige’s role in this, especially since a well written guest starring role can have the dual effect of not only grabbing new viewers but also attracting future guest stars as well.

Ghost Whisperer set supposedly haunted by real ghosts

Saturday, October 7th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Of all the show sets to be haunted by ghosts, it makes sense that the set of Ghost Whisperer is the one they chose to occupy. Show star Jennifer Love Hewitt told talk show host Megan Mullally that the show has had unexplained things happen on the set.

She tells US chat show host Megan Mullally, “We’ve had lights move, literally three and a half inches to the left, as you’re sitting there the lights move.

“We’ve had lights burst over actors’ heads when they’re playing people who don’t believe in ghosts. A light will burst into a million pieces right over them.

“People are like, ‘We’re not guest-starring on that show!’

“But for us as a crew we’re kind of like, ‘Awesome! Maybe they (the ghosts) are with us.’”

You do have to wonder about why mention and promo this fact. It could certainly raise some attention on the low ranking series during a fall season that has had plenty of hype surrounding other shows… after all, I can’t even recall hearing much of anything, or even a promo on TV for that matter, for Ghost Whisperer in the past months. It could also bring interest from various groups with paranormal interests to avidly watch the show for any apparitions or other ghostly goings on that end up in the final cut for the show.

Whatever the reason, you have to admit, this makes for a good story, much more so than if Grey’s Anatomy or Gilmore Girls sets were the ones haunted. And perhaps only the X-Files set being haunted back in the 90’s would have been better.

The show airs on CBS on Fridays.
